Scarab’s amulets, in the shape of a beetle, had a number of uses. It was believed that anyone up-righting scarabs flipped on their backs relieved themselves of sin. 

Scarabs also contained curative, fortune and protective properties, and were used in the embalming, body wrapping and funeral rites as a symbol of rebirth. VERY PROTECTIVE!
